Endurance is built over time. Any exercise works. Start with short times and then make it longer and reduce breaks. When you exercise longer and you don't feel tired that means you are increasing endurance.

Improving your cardiovascular and respiratory endurance allows your body to deliver nutrients and oxygen to the tissues in your body much more efficiently.

This means that you will not become tired as quickly while exercising, your tissue will receive more oxygen and nutrients and over all it will reduce the work your heart is required to move all of these supplies around the body.

More nutrients and oxygen to the tissues will improve your appearance by giving the tissues the materials they need exactly when they require them. (assuming that you gain these from your diet) This allows for repair and maintenance of the cells in your body. (ex. connective cells and tissue holds your skin tight to you body which eventually become worn and wrinkles form)
