Well at one time Italy was of course rulled by the Roman Empire, then that fell. And i guess after that it had to grow as any other Eurpoean country. And even though England seemed to be on this power rage in the 1400"s to like the 1700"S at one time it was poor beyond poor and the Romans owned it!! As well as just about every country in Europe and some Asia and Africa!

once a mainly agricultural country, Italy is now a prosperous industrial nation. only five percent of the population has a farmrelated job. European union membership has helped Italy grow, opening new markets for its products, which include fashionable clothing' shoes' and cars. milan, in northern Italy is world famous for its fashion shows. however economic growth for the country has been uneven. the north has many of Italy's factories, while the south remains largely farmlands. Italy continues to look for ways to bring greater prosperity to the southern region.
