Hi there,I have a 94 Mercury Marquis It cost me $19.00 for the balljoint and I did it myself. The labor is what is going to cost you.Its not hard at all to replace yourself.I did both sides of mine for under $40.00.All shops have different prices.
I also did mine myself. Ball joints should be $20-$35 / ea depending on brand and quality and it take just a few tools to do. There are some good instructions specific to your vehicle at...

Be sure and have a front-end alignment done after you replace the ball joints.
The lower ball joints have to be pressed out. The upper ball joints are part of the control arm, so the complete upper assembly has to be replaced.
Check the engine end of the upper radiator hose
I believe on the 4 x 4 , with the torsion bar suspension , the upper ball joints are part of the control arm and the lower ball joints can be replaced separately or with a new control arm The 2 wheel drive , with the coil spring front suspension , the upper and lower ball joints can be replaced separately
Upper ball joints need replaced
at the end of the upper radiator hoseremove hose then the part the hose attaches toits inside that part.
The upper ball joints must be replaced with the upper control arms but the lower ball joints can be replaced seperately. NOTE: THE BEST WAY TO GET THEM OUT IS TO KNOCK THEM OUT WITH A 3LB MINI SLEDGE HAMMER FROM AUTOZONE. According to my Haynes repair manual it states that 1995 and newer models upper and lower balljoints are not removable or serviceable. If a balljoint is damaged or worn, replace the control arm.
Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses and transmission lines from the radiator. Remove the fan shroud and the upper and lower bolts. Raise the radiator up and out.
I assume you mean the front ball joints. I just had one replaced in my 97 Grand-Prix for 157 bucks. Im not sure if that is a good price but it's what I payed to have one replaced. Hope that helps some.
I believe the lower balljoints can be changed , but the upper control arm assembly with the balljoint has to be changed
on my '00 C70, had tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints and sway bar bushings replaced with no work to R&P
Perhaps upper strut mount?
