In my 98 Metro 3 cyl 5 speed I changed the timing belt and continued to have a oil leak in the area around the oil pump. After several remove and reinstall procedures of the front plate that houses the oil pump I realized one of the alighnment pins on either side of the crankshaft ( fits into block )was missing. Installed new alighnment pin and reinstalled front plate and the oil leak has vanished.
My 1999 Chev. Metro has fuel injection. I doubt that any of them were carbureted.

Remove the belt from your 1999 Chevy Metro water pump. Remove the water pump return hose. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to replace the water pump.
NO. It won't even bolt up to the engine, Not even close. You can not use anything newer then 1999 in that 98 model. In LATE 1999 Chevy redesigned all the engines and transmissions.
