Is the key broke off? if it is not broken off make sure gear selector is in park.If it is broke off I have been able to pick keys out using a needle or a dental pick.
Answerturn your steering wheel hard to either side. this should free up the key to be able to turn it.
when you park your car make sure the clutch is disangage .then you can remove the key same problem is with my Volvo s40
