Put your Element in neutral and disconnect the battery! Then get a good grip under the panel surrounding the gear shift, the radio and a/c. with a little prying it pops right off. Once you get this removed, you'll see four (maybe two if my memory is fuzzy) screws that hold the radio/cd player in place. After these are removed it slides right out. You'll have to unplug it from the antenna and other connectors, but its pretty straight-forward from there. You can also take this opportunity to change the display colors! Each tiny little led has a blue cover on it. Just get some tweezers and pull the little rubber covers off. Add a drop of acrylic or stained glass paint to each led in whatever color you choose and voila! Mine is red, rather than the boring Honda green-blue. Good luck.
