Best Answer

Germany, Italy and Japan (the axis powers) declared war on the United States which was apart of the allied powers. France was a part of the allied powers and were therefore our allies.

Second answer. You have it backwards. The US was an ally of France and England. France had a Free French Army led by Charles De Gaulle. These Frenchmen were troops that manage to escape from Dunkirk after the Battle of Dunkirk. They trained and joined the Allied Forces to invade Normandy on D-Day. They were able to free Paris of the Nazi Control along with the towns people and Underground Network. They also controlled the French Occupied Zone of West Berlin and West Germany. The US helped with supplies, food, fuel and transportation. It was a great cooperative effort by all the nations involved.
