Can you gain muscle without protein shake?

No, if you drink protein shakes and dont work out.. That protein will turn into fat. The reason people eat protein while working out is because they want that fat to turn into muscle. I suggest you workout while drinking protein shakes or dont drink the shakes at all.

Which protein is best pre-workout?

You can get the best nutrition including protein if you drink whole milk or low fat milk before workout. You would want whey protein before you workout. What brand of protein is up to you but Optimum Nutrition is one of the most popular. I would stay away from the super cheap protein from target and walmart because it usually is lower quality.

Why is fat loss nutrition important to my work out?

The post workout meal (the meal you eat after a workout) is probably the most important meal of the day for anyone who is into nutrition and fitness. Simply put, fat slows down digestion. In this case, it would be slowing down the digestion of protein and carbs.

Can fat turn to muscles?

Well, fat doesn't really "turn" into muscle literally. What really happens that could make one think this is that the body utilizes fat for energy. When you workout hard and have a caloric deficit (have fewer calories than the body needs from what you are eating), then you will breakdown the fats or "burn" fat to use for energy (it's a complex process, so I'll leave it at that). At the same time, you are building muscle from your workout, so it would seem like that. But no, again, fat can't turn into muscle. It can be converted to energy, and that is about it.

You are overweight but you have been working out Should you still drink protein shakes or rely on your workout to make you gain muscle and lose weight?

Protein Shakes as their name suggest are supplements which provide protein to growing muscles in your body. To gain mass you would need the extra protein but be mindful that protein consumed would eventually turn into fat if it is not utilized by your body. As a general rule for bodybuilders world wide, you can never think of gaining muscle or mass and weight loss at the same time..... But i guess if you work your muscles and do enough cardio, you could ensure muscle gain and loss of fat. So if you are an individual with some extra flab, work out to first lose the flab and then when its gone, take the help of protein shake to fuel the growth of your muscles. I know I know, you must be thinking it would take twice as long, but believe me the fat lost shall stay off longer and your muscles shall look awesome. good luck!

Should you eat protein before or after a workout?

Before and after! My trainer says a good soy protein shake before helps my body work out at an optimal level, after is good for rebuilding the muscle from the workout.AnswerYes it is a good idea to consume protein before and after a workout but it should be known that the most crucial time, is after your workout. During the 3 hours after your workout is essentially your muscle making window of opportunity. This is when your muscles are basically starving for protein and makes the most use of them. I suggest a fast acting protein such as whey immediately after, like within 15 minutes! Typically, this is a protein powder that you mix with water or milk. Sometime after that, within the 3 hour window consume a good whole food meal containing at least 30 grams of protein and 50-80 grams of complex carbs such as white rice, pasta, baked potato, etc. The reason I suggest the use of a complex carbs at this time is not to make you fat, because it won't. Complex carbs will raise you insulin levels and shoot all those good nutrients through your bloodstream straight to repairing your muscles. It's also a good time to enjoy that plate of spaghetti or rice. If you are looking to gain weight then eating pasta, brown rice or a baked potatoe is a great suggestion however if your goal is to lose weight I suggest eating half of what you would for rice or pasta and replace it with broccoli and green beans.
