Yes. Suboxone is primarily used to help with the treatement of opiate addiction. It is a wonderful drug to detox from opiate addiction and avoid withdrawal when used properly and under a physicians care. Xanax is used as part of the treatment to assit with anxiety and sleep.

Suboxone will not adequately treat Xanax withdrawal, since the two drugs act very differently in your body. Suboxone is a partial opioid agonist while Xanax deals with GABA. Suboxone does not deal with GABA and Xanax does not deal with opioid receptors.

I also checked this out by calling the medical department at Suboxone and I was told that I was correct that this was the indication.

Can you take xanax with suboxone? You can take anything, that doesn't mean that it is safe and will not harm you. I have personally overcome a pretty good sized addiction problem and was treated using a xanax and suboxone combination. Being an addict I learned early on that it was not the best course of treatment. I will inevitably abuse anything. Suboxone itself will make you sleepy so the combination of xanax just increases these effects. I do not recomment using the two together unless you have serious mental or emotional concerns that warrant this medication. Xanax is very addictive and they do not inform patients that suboxone is as well. Being prescribed suboxone to get off of another opiate is just silly. You will suffer withdrawal symptoms upon the cessation of this medication and are just prolonging the agony of the withdrawal from the original opiate you were addicted to. I know that is seems virtually impossible to stop the opiate without the help of suboxone or xanax but you can trust in the fact that it is the best course of action. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy... it's sincerly not. I can't say that I even stopped without the help of suboxone or xanax but I can tell you that I am no further ahead now than I was when I was abusing opiates. Can you mix Wellbutrin and xanax?
It all depends on certain factors such as is it prescribed? how much of each you are taking? and most important are you tolerant to the medications. someone who isn't used to suboxone and xanax can have life threatening consequences if taken together or even by them selves. Ive been on suboxone for 2 years and wellbutrin for 2 months. i will take .5 mg of xanax here and there if i cant sleep. I am tolerant to the suboxone and have taken benzos i.e "xanax in the past. the combination of the 3 if not taken at the same time is fine if you have tolerance to the suboxone and the xanax. if your a noob and haven't taken these meds that much then never ever mix them it could kill you because both are respiratory depressants which will stop your breathing if the person is not used to the medications. Talk to your Dr. if you have one thats always the best advice.

No you should not, I was abusing presription meds and more for about 8 years (up to 30 percs/day maybe more some days) I could not stop alone & found amazing suboxones & now have been clean 15 months (and no suboxones Do Not get u high if u are not abusing them & really taking them to live sober!) & with my addiction I would mix the xanax w/ percs to get a nod out high witch was my fav. But with my 1st suboxones Dr. he would also give me xanax even though you are Not supposed to, I O.D'd twice & almost died once when I was on suboxone and xanax because I took way to many extra zannies due to a traumatic family event and my heart stopped & only thanks to god the docs & my family that im still here. So my new suboxone doc weaned me off in 2 weeks and said how deathly fatal it is to mix suboxone & xanax and even with percocets witch we called our cocktail, mixing uppers or pain pills with downers, but No they DoNot get you high (seen someone said they do) if you take them how you arw supposed to and No you should not take xanax with suboxone unless under close dr supervision but most suboxone doctors will not prescribe them together & at suboxone.com it will say about how it can be fatal to take any benzodines with suboxone, So I would say No and I really hope you will read that and not take them together for the safety of your health and life even.
