To install a new window regulator on a MGRZ driver's door, remove the door panel and the wiring attached to the power window mechanism. Remove stereo speaker from the inside door and the window glass. Remove the old window regulator and replace with new.
Window regulator and motor
undo the glass from the regulator and pull it up out of the door and get new gass and drop it down inside the door into the window channels and rehook the glass to the regulator.
First you need to remove the door panel. Then remove the door handle bracket.Peel back the moisture shield.Tape the window into place, then unbolt the window from the regulator.Remove the window regulator from the access hole in the door.
First, lower window approximately half way. This allows you access to the bolts that attach window to the regulator. Remove door panel. Using a 10mm wrench, remove the two bolts that hold window to the regulator. Then there are two upper and two lower bolts holding the regulator to the door. Then you remove the three bolts for the window motor which is toward the front of the door. You have to also disconnect the plug for the windo motor to remove the entire window regulator and motr that are all one unit. Replace the unit in the reverse way.
You must remove the door panel (careful there are hidden screws near the arm rest). Then you must pull or push the window all the way up, and secure it with duct tape in the up position. Then remove the clamps secured to the botton of window. Then remove all the bolts holding window regulator assembly to door framing. Then you must carefully rotate the assmebly until it is in position of largest opening in door frame and remove. Then to place new regulator assembly in door framing the opposite of how you removed the old one. Make sure to loosen the clamps prior to placing the regulator assembly into the door (it might be wise to place something into the clamps to keep them open).
remove your door panel there will be three screws holding it on. then you have to remove the screws holding your window to the regulator. then unbolt regulator and motor from door. Undo wiring going to motor.
The process to replacing the window regulator involves removing the door panel, connections to the window switch and also the door handle bezels. I've included a video that will show you exactly what tools you need and how to get at the window regulator so that it can be replaced.
Window motor and regulator are found inside of the door panel and may be bolted or riveted in. Should be bolted. Disconnect the window from regulator, take out reg. and motor, then disconnect regulator from motor, reconnect new motor to regulator, reattach those inside of the door, then reconnect the window to the regulator, put it together and see if it works.
Remove the window regulator and motor from the door as an assembly. Drill out rivets that hold motor to regulator and replace motor. Regulator needs to be riveted back into door for reassembly
Have to remove the door panel screws, then remove speaker, drop the cables off the window motor (maybe), drill out the rivets that secure the regulator at bottom and remove two bolts at the top of regulator. push window all way up remove glass from regulator, I used a screwdriver but am sure there must be an easier way to remove the caulk that hold window to regulator. then dats about it..if you need to replace motor same thing drill out the rivets and pull out from right side of door...have fun that project sucked for me..LOL
To remove the rear window regulator on a 1994 town car, remove the screws under the arm rest. Take off the rubber insulation and unplug the speaker wires to get it our of the way. Finally, remove the window regulator.Ê
