Technical Service Bulletin vs. Recall The Technical Service Bulletin may commonly be mistaken as a recall. While both procedures address faults in a vehicle, TSBs and recalls greatly differ. Firstly, a recall notices are sent out mainly when vehicle failures amounts to a potential safety hazard or emission issue. A technical service bulletin is issued for a variety of other vehicle equipment problems including electronics, drivetrain, wheel and tire, and even engine parts. Examples would include malfunctioning power door locks or starting problems. The technical issues could even be as simple as a poorly-installed floor mat in the case of one Lexus LS600H TSB report. Secondly, the intended receiver for TSBs are automotive service technicians belonging to the automaker's dealership. The repairs suggested in TSBs are not mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) and thereby deemed as only recommended, unlike a vehicle recall. There is no requirement by the manufacturer or the dealership to notify customers about these possibly vehicle-impairing issues. Though, some dealerships have nonetheless taken the initiative to voluntarily inform their customers about any vehicle flaws as an act of goodwill. http://www.autotropolis.com/wiki/index.php?title=Technical_Service_Bulletin

Why would the turn signals on a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT sometimes not work?

actually alot of times its the hazard button ( your flasher) it happens alot with malibus / grand ams recall There is no recall I had this same problem with my Grand Am GT. The dealership had to change out the turn switch to fix the problem. I have a 02 Grand Am GT that had the same problem. The turn switch had to be replaced.Call your local dealer, there is no recall only a service bulletin, because as long as the car is not 10 years old,or has under 150,000 miles, the replacement is at no cost to you. This is what I did,the problem is fixed,it did not cost me a dime!

Why does my 2001 GMC Yukon make a clunking noise in the front end?

My 2003 GMC Yukon XL had the same problem after two years. The dealer said a slip shaft in the steering was manufactured with loose tolerances. May have been part of a recall or a service bulletin at one point. They packed it with grease. Have not had a problem since.

Where can you find replacement Kumdong brand bulbs for the trip computer?

Ok, I'll answer my own question. It appears that the only place to get them is at the dealer. Part number is 18643-01004 and there are 4 bulbs in the trip computer that should all be replaced at the same time. There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) that outlines the replacement process. The TSB number is 04-90-005.

99 tj when heats up air bag light comes on tachometer and speedometer gauges work and then don't what would cause this?

I have the same issue with my 99 TJ. After a ton of searching, I came across a technical service bulletin (NHTSA #606058, Service bulletin #081599, Replacement bulletin #082098) about the problem. There is an electrical component that is failing. I called the dealership and they told me it's about 200 bucks to fix. I had the same problem on my 99 jeep wrangler. Although I had mine fixed while under warranty, a temporary fix is to give an open handed smack to the top left of the dashboard. I say open handed because you want to smack fairly firmly but not break anything. Use this until you can afford to fix it properly. The problem is a loose (poorly designed) connector under the dash, smacking it jars it and reestablishes the connection till the next time it comes loose.

How do you fix the front driver side electric window on a 2000 Nissan Xterra that will go down but not up most of the time?

I had same problem on my 2000 Nissan Xterra. You probably need to replace the power window switch assembly. I did the same on my car and it works fine now. Go to http://catalog.nissanpartswholesale.com and look for part number O3060-177168 ($89.60). I'm not sure how far it goes back but there was a recall/service bulletin on my '01 Xterra for the same problem. They replaced all 4 of the assemblies at no charge. Might be worth a call to the local dealership.
