On my 1997 3.8L I had the same problem with my gas gauge. There is a variable resister (mechanical) on the float (part of the fuel sending unit on the gas tank). I have an access panel to the unit in the trunk so it was easy. I cleaned and re-adjusted ( bent! )the wiper fingers and it works great. This can be a separate problem with the low coolant sensor. It can get covered in "gunk" and not read properly. It is located on the radiator near the battery held on with a metal clip. About 6" down from the radiator cap on the engine side. Remove the battery. Drain the coolant below the sensor. Remove the clip holding the sensor. Remove the sensor and clean. Re-assemble, replace the coolant and bleed the system. Hope this helps. "G"
could be very low on coolant; make sure the coolant system is full could be electrical
Make sure your coolant is FULL, it will stop reading if your coolant is low and the low coolant light doesn't always work. My radiator was full and i took the thermoustat off to find the block hlaf empty on my 91. Paco
If coolant full could be a bad sensor
maybe cuz its low on coolant
The coolant level sensor is bad
Bad sensor? == ==
nope. at least not on a 93, and others that have a similar resevoir- its a low coolant level float switch The coolant light blinks when the level is too low and/or there is insufficient cooling. If the level is fine and the car is not overheating (the cooling fan is turning on, the oil temp is okay, etc.), the gauge temperature sender may be faulty.
Try changing the temp. sending switch. it controls the gauge and light. It is usually located on the thermostat housing, on most vehicles.
Defective sensor? Usually in coolant recovery trank
Check to see if you are getting power to it with A/C or defroster on Try Hot wiring the motor to see if it is defective Check fuse and relay Check temperature sensor switch XXXXXXXXXXXXXX ANSWER XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX The temperature sensor works the light or gauge. The cooling fan switch works the cooling fan. If, when the air conditioner is "ON," the fan works then there is no need to hot wire it. If the coolant is low in the radiator and isn't contacting the switch, then the fan will not work. Open the radiator cap and be sure the coolant is full. You can have a full recovery tank and a low radiator and the coolant will not transfer.
Check the coolant level and make sure that its full, and is not leaking down over time. If the system is full then the low coolant sensor is probably bad.
Check the engine coolant... Is it full? yes coolant level is full
