Every 10,000 miles maybe. I would change it every 50,000 miles myself. Sadly, the morons in the engineering dept for GM eliminated the dipsticks for automatic transmissions on many of their products. Wonder why they are hurting?

The fluid level of the transmission gearbox should be checked at every oil change.

Where do i check my 1999 Isuzu auto transmission fluid?

These transmissions do not have a dipstick, the fluid level is checked by removing a fill plug on the case, similar to a manual transmission.

Where is the dipstick for transmission located on a 98 manual Mitsubishi Montero?

locating the dipstick on a manual trannyIf, in fact, this is a manual transmission you are asking about then the answer is "there is NO dipstick on manual transmissions". Only automatic transmissions have a dipstick. Manual transmissions have a plug in the side that must be unscrewed to check the fluid/gearlube level. Note, also, that 4X4 vehicles also have a transfer case bolted to the back of the transmission which has it's own level hole that must be checked as well. The fluid/gearlube should only be up to the bottom edge of the hole (make sure the vehicle is on a level surface. The theory is, if you pump in the fluid/gearlube until it runs back out, then wait till it stops running out, the level will be perfect and you can put the plug(s) back in.Hope this helps.

Where do you check the transmission fluid?

If it is an automatic transmission, then it should have a dipstick to check the fluid level. Depending on the make and model, the location of this dipstick will vary. If it is a manual transmission, then the fluid level really can't be checked and it will not have a dipstick.

How do you check your transmission fluid level?

First if it's a Automatic transmission you drive it around some to get it warm then you check the dipstick level if its on the full mark then it's fine. With a manual transmission you have can just check the dipstick.

Where is dipstick located on 1993 standard Mustang?

The standard / manual transmissions don't have a dipstick like the automatics do . The standard transmission fluid level is checked underneath the vehicle at the transmission fluid fill plug

Where is the transmission dipstick located on a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier?

the above answer that a manual transmission has no dipstick may not be entirely accurate. many manual transmissions (including that in my 1993 cavalier VL 5sp.) do have a dipstick for checking the manual transmission fluid. jack the car up and check the rear end of the transmission, just below the level of the CV axles. look for a plastic cap with an "L" shape to it hanging over the back end of a plateau on the transmission casing. that will be the fill cap for your manual transmission, and should have a small dipstick attached to the end of it for measuring the amount of fluid in the transaxle. it is true that some transmissions are completely sealed and will not have this plug.

Where is dip stick to check transmission level on 94 Chevy S10?

If it is an automatic, the dipstick would most likely be to the right of the transmission toward the firewall, most manual transmissions don't have dipsticks, just empty and fill plugs.

How do you check the gear box oil levels in a 97 Ford Falcon GLI?

You don't specify auto or manual. If it is a manual, you remove the fill plug in the case of the gearbox and expect the oil level to be ebbing at the bottom of the fill plug or just below. Around that time the auto transmissions deleted their dipstick. If your's has a dipstick, then with the engine and trans at operating temperature, transmission in Park, and engine running, the oil should be in the "cross hatched" section of the dipstick. If your's is an auto without dipstick, then the procedure is the same as the manual trans.

How do check the transmission fluid?

If the car is an automatic, there should be a dipstick for the tranny fluid that will be labeled, "use automatic transmission fluid only". If the car is a standard then you have to get under the car and pull the drain plug and check the level there, and standard cars don't use Transmission Fluid, they use 902w gear oil. May I add, that you don't' check a manual transmission level by removing the drain plug. You check it by removing the fill plug. Also not all manual transmissions use the same lube. Some do indeed use automatic transmission fluid. Read you owner's manual. Also there are some A/T that don't have a place to check the fluid level. They are sealed for life transmissions.
