I haven't heard of a movie specifically about separation of male and female students. This practice of educating the sexes separately was common for centuries, and not just in church schools: Prince Charles attended the all-boy Gordounston School, and the late Princess Diana attended an exclusive all-girl finishing school in Switzerland after finishing at her elite all-girl English prep school. Most of the top international schools are all-boy or all-girl. Reason: students concentrate on their studies better with fewer distractions.

The church leaders were even more committed to apartheid than many of their followers, hence the church became an impediment to political reform.
