Trends in tourism differ depending upon the country the tourist lives in. For example, American tourists are not as likely to visit places in the Middle East than say, 25 years ago. This trend is based on safety concerns of American tourists. The trend for Americans is to yes, take vacations, but take them within the USA or "safe" places such as Canada or Western Europe. While destinations are one trend, the method of transportation is another trend. Generally speaking, based on the Air Malaysia disaster, many "western tourists" have tended to travel on "western based" airlines like Air France or British Airways.
