What causes brake lights to not come on although flashers and high brake light is working?

I had the same problem. There is a recall on certain Trailblazer tail lamps. As I recall, it has something to do with vibration and/or heat causing the brake light bulb to become loose in the socket. This bad connection can burn the bulb out. GM has updated the part, so if this is your problem it should be covered as a safety recall.
