If the Polaris 50 Scrambler only runs for about five seconds and shuts off, it could be a problem with the idle setting. This type of ATV has an adjustment screw on the carburetor for turning the idle up. This should fix the problem.
It is 730 RPM +or - 50
Normal is 30 at idle. 50+ at 3000 rpm. Minimum is 12 at idle.
Find the carburetor and then adjust the idle screw however you like. You'll need a Philips screwdriver.
Did you replace the oil pump? If not then that would be suspect. Also install an AC/Delco filter before going any farther.
50 psi +or- 5psi
Replace the Idle Air Control Valve only about $50. This would cause funny idling and stalling out.

Im not sure about a 92, but when it happened to my 98, i had to replace the Idle control valve. its generally about 50 bucks and is very easily done.
