A couple of years ago this happened to my '93 Ford Ranger. My mechanic replaced everything but the solenoid because he said that that couldn't be the problem. Still did not work. After doing research on the internet, I felt that that was indeed the problem, so I ordered the part online and replaced it myself. It works like new- perfectly. I am a middle aged woman who has done only limited auto repair. Go figure.
