As the US is a comparatively new country it is the US that is similar to other countries.
Because of the diversity of the immigrants, voluntary and otherwise, to the US it has a rich and diverse culture. Most of which can be traced to Europe, Africa and Latin America.
The US has a little bit of influence on almost every country in the world, either culturally or economically.

Most countries have similar economic systems, which are a mixture of a free market and government regulation.
Some countries are similar in gun violence to the US, and other countries are more pacific.

We have this feel of Greatness like we can't be touched (though China and North Korea have bigger armies and Russia has more nuclear weapons). Also we are the most culturally diverse country in the world.
Many other countries have provinces, which are a similar idea to US states. France has departements, which are like US counties. In most other countries the provinces do not have the same degree of autonomy that US states enjoy, let alone the right to levy taxes as most US states do. India has states. For example, Kerala. Australia consists of 6 states and several territories.
It changed to modern life.
