It resulted in the collapse of three Empires, The Russian Empire that evolved into the Soviet Union, The Austo-Hungarian Empire that was divided into national states and the Ottoman Empire that was partly ruled by British and Franch protectorates and partly given indepenence.

The aims of the other main combatents were unacheived, Germany, Britain and France had expended all their wealth and manpower for little result. France gained back the territory it lost to Germany in 1871 and everyone went home and raised another generation of kids so they could do it all again 20 years later.

the effect was that Germany had to take full responsability for the start of the war and had to pay each country from the other side a lot of money, and it said that Germany could not build an army, but when Hitler took over he did build an army and ignored the treaty.
