I am the owner of a 1998 gmc safari awd van and i am 100% sure that the computer on mine is under drivers seat. Yes under drivers seat mounted to the floor.

Yes
I got 21.5 last weekend driving back highways in WI in a 1998 AWD Astro
That is more hassle then whats its worth. the whole front suspension is totaly diffrent then the AWD. plus the rest of the AWD equipment that is needed to make it work. if you want AWD find one that has a bad motor and replace it with the one you have as long as you don't have a lot of mileage on that motor. or rebuild the motor and there you have an AWD van. it would be cheaper than trying and less painful
pull the fuse
Mine is 24 gallons.
