Depends on what you consider an "image". New Jersey in 1908 started attaching an embossed seal to the license plate, which has an image stamped into it. In 1910, Michigan had their State Seal figured into the porcelain enamel on their plates, until 1914, so that is a detailed image. But in 1917 Arizona stamped an image of a bull's head into their steel plates to advertise the cattle exports.

How do you change the bulb for the license plate on a 2000 Pontiac Gran Prix?

Remove the two screws that hold the cover plate on to the bumper recess and remove the plate. If no cover plate is there, then loosen the screws only. After the plate is removed or the screws loosened what ever you may have on your vehicle just move the housing around the edge of the license plate recess. Turn the bulb assembly 1/4 of a turn counter-clockwise and the bulb housing will come out of the plastic casing. Exchange bulb and reinstall the opposite way.
