How do you change the ignition control module in a 1988 Chevy Silverado 5.7L
The ignition control module on a 2.5L Fiero is changed by removing the lower steering column panel, disconnecting the wiring harness, and unbolting the module. A new module is then bolted in and the wires reattached. I owned one of these and never saw a ignition box of any kind in this location. The 1985 to 1988 had distributorless ignition. The module is held to the bracket by the ignition coil screws. To change remove the 4 screws holding coils on, seperate the coils from the module, unplug the module, depending on year 1 or two harnes plugs. To assemble reverse process. 1984n the module lives under the rotor inside the distributor cap and has two wires from the harnes and two that run to the pick up coil. Two screws and 4 wires to change

The ignition module on a 1988 Chevy Celebrity with 2.5 engine is on the side of the block beneath the intake manifold. You can simply follow the spark plug wires to it. As information the crankshaft position sensor is behind the ignition module.
If you have the V6, the coils are attached to the Ignition module, which is on the lower side of the engine block in the area of the starter. The coils can be replaced without removing the ignition module. 1. Unplug the spark plug wires. Make note of where each spark plug wire goes, so you can put it back. It might be best to do one coil at a time, there are three coils. 2. The coils are held on by two small screws, unscrew the screws and pull the coil off of the ignition module. 3. Install the replacement coil on the terminals on the ignition module and put the screws back in. 4. Put the spark plug wires back in place.
