On December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched an attack on the US Naval Fleet stationed at Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii. A list of the ships sunk during the attack include:

U.S.S. Arizona

U.S.S. Oklahoma

U.S.S. California (floated and rebuilt by January 1944)

U.S.S. West Virginia (floated and rebuilt by July 1944)

U.S.S. Oglala (salvaged and rebuilt by February 1944)

Many others sunk, but repaired and sent out into battle.

Ironically, throughout the war, we only lost 2 battleships: both at Pearl.
