Well, there are many disadvantages. Where shall I begin? I'll begin with the location of Iraq, it is many thousands of miles away from North America. Iraq borders with Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Jordan and Kuwait. These countries do not like America. They wish America would disappear . But there we are with our planes and missiles, our tanks and our artillery....Why? I'm sure "spreading democracy" has something to do with it right. Yeah, democracy has a real chance in that part of the world. Especially with China and Russia being so close-by. Another disadvantage is the cost, and the fact that America is bankrupt. America is BANKRUPT! We are fighting this war with the wrong weaponry, death and destruction are no way to promote the western way of life. Everyone in that region knows why we are there.......oil. That is why we have no chance in hell of ever "winning." Without oil, living conditions in America will be very unfavorable for a very long time. With a steady supply of oil we will experience a slower, more regulated descent into previously mentioned circumstances. Either way, We lose. That is a major disadvantage!

There are so many, but to name a few:

1) The United States is increasingly "going it alone" as they lose support from other countries.

2) Domestic support for the war and for Bush is hitting an all-time low.

3) There has been no stated exit strategy.

4) The opposition is waging a guerrilla war, something the U.S. has never been good at dealing with (see Vietnam).

5) Opposition fighters are streaming across the borders from other countries and the U.S. appears powerless to stop it.

6) The high cost of projecting troops halfway around the world for several years is proving to be unsustainable.

7) Anti-U.S. sentiment in the Muslim world keeps increasing. Other hotspots of terrorism and violence are beginning to erupt.

In the early years of the Bush administration, intelligence reports indicated that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Ultimately, these weapons could be used against the US and its allies. Since Iraq was rules by a cruel dictator, who had used poison gas on its own citizens, the US presented its case to the UN for the disarmament of these weapons. Iraq was opposed to total inspections. With all that said the US, the UK and its allies proceeded with an invasion of Iraq.
