Leak in vacuum line to cruise control servo (actuator). Most commonly caused by vacuum line being inadvertently bumped & disconnected while someone is working under the hood or there may be a crack in the line. Another possibility is a bad servo. I believe the servo is located in the space between the battery and radiator (not sure on this because I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with the diesel engine which does not use a servo for the cruise control.) Once you locate your servo, follow the vacuum line from it & check for cracks. Yet another possibility is the servo cable may be disconnected from the throttle body.

In my 1989 Dodge Dakota the brake light is on fuse number13 it is a 5amp it also goes to buzzer, speed control, check engine light, anti-lock warning light, and other things page 12-19 Haynes 1987- 1993 Dodge Dakota Repair Manual
could be a vacume leak or a bad switch. A 2002 Intrique is an all electric cruise control. The fuse for the cruise control is in the passenger side dash panel. The controller box is located on the driver side strut/spring tower. A cable runs from the throttle to this box, which has a winch inside. This winch has a flat nylon ribbon on it that attaches to the cable just outside the box. If the controller is working, the nylon ribbon has broke. A new box is ~ $200. A roll of the perfect size strap is 80 cents at Wally world. Sew the new ribbon to the old making very sure you get the length as close as possible. If it is too long, you will set the cruise on 80 and it may not pull the throttle til 35, no problem, just shorten the cable. On the opposite side make sure there is enough slack to let the throttle close when the box is off. Hope this helps. I just got a new car (Toyota Corolla S) with cruise control and after I press the cruise control button, a CC light comes up on the dash. However, this is not engaging the cruise control. You may need to flick one of the levers near or on your steering wheel to engage. Hopefully one of these two answers helps you.
Start by removing the connections for the cruise control and brake lights, then remove the bolt that holds the switch to the brake pedal. Once the brake pedal is loose the switch is held on the brake pushrod by a bushing with nylon retaining washers. Carefully remove one washer and slide the bushing out, the switch can now be removed from the pushrod. Installation is the reverse; line up the hole on the switch with the hole on the pushrod, make sure the tabs for the cruise control and brake lights are facing properly. Reinstall the bushing and replace the other nylon washer, replace the bolt and tighten. Lastly connect the brake lights and cruise control.
a relay does not control both dome light and the radio.
Check the vacuum lines on the driver side of the engine.
When you get to speed you want to keep, press the button to activate cruise control. You will on the dash light showing that cruise control was activated. After that pull the cruise control joystick down to set the speed. If you pull toward you it resets the current speed.
Faulty air bag, see the dealer!!! It could also mean there is a faulty airbag clockspring, this is located in the hub of the steering wheel, and can cause an open circuit which allows the light to stay on. This is covered in a recall issued by Dodge. The horn and/or cruise control could also be affected. I know this because we recently (03/26) purchased a '99 Dodge Caravan. The airbag light was on. We then noticed that the horn was nonfunctional. After doing some research online I found information on the recall, it also mentioned that the cruise control. Lo and behold, the next time I drove it, the cruise control didn't work. I contacted my local Dodge dealer and the problem was fixed at no charge!! The airbag light is off, the horn and cruise control both work.
No there is no light behind that switch
That light is for the Cruise control saying something is wrong with it. Mine came on when i broke the switch to the cruise control. so try replaceing the cruise control.
Sounds like the brake light switch is broken or out of adjustment and yes it would cause the cruise control not to work.
its setting a code
I believe you are referring to the cruise control light. This light means that the cruise control feature has been engaged.
who ever said that a dodge ram diesel does not have a servo it is not true. I have a dodge diesel 2001 and it has a servo and the answer to this question is it had a vacuum leak in the servo vacuum line, changed that and cruise control worked great. the servo is under the drivers side battery.
Does the "cruise" light come on?
just changed motors in a Lexus es300 now the cruise control will not work everything is pluged in and moves freely the light on the dash will not light
1. You have a problem with the cruise control. or 2. If your check engine light is also on, get the code read, cancel the light and the cruise indicator light will probably quit flashing and the cruise will start working again.
