Steps to changing the timing belt on a 2005 VW Jetta Wagon 1.9 TDI?
five years old or 97,00 miles, whichever comes first as told to me by main dealer today regarding my 807.
The Gates website does not even list the 1.9L as having a belt. The 1.8 L must be changed every 110,000 miles.

The five cylinder engines, that is to say the 130ps & 174ps engines are gear driven. No cam belt or chain exists. There is a requirement to replace the 'Gates Couplings' at 80,000 miles on these unconventional engines. The four cylinder engines (85ps, 102ps and 104ps) have the standard cam belt (timing belt) arrangement. The change for those is due at 60,000 miles or four years. For more information on these vans search for 'brick-yard' ;-)
