this happened to me several 2 cars, one my transmission went out in my Chevy cavalier going down interstate , no matter what gear i put it in it did dot make a different sound just sounded like ity was idlleing. it gave me know warning and just like that it was gone however with my 96 Honda it was a bad cylanoid which also has similar symptoms hope this can maybe just maybe give u an area to start, but the electrical shop will test and tell u ,
