There are hundreds of grape varieties which are used to make red wine. Some of the more popular red wine grape varieties include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Different varieties are used depending on the region, soil and growing conditions. Different types of grapes are also blended to make red wine.
Nowadays red wine grapes can grow virtually everywhere. In the Western Hemisphere they can grow as far north as Canada down to Texas, and in South America, Chile & Argentina are large producers. Now some of this wine is better than others, but all of these places do in fact grow grapes and make wine.
Roughly speaking if the temperature in the summer exceeds 100 degrees for very long stretches regularly, then it's probably not a good candidate. Also very very cold regions, like northern Canada also don't work because there isn't a good growing season for grapes

Red grapes of course!
A basic answer from my home brew days is: Black grapes produce a deep red wine, the colour coming from the skins of the grapes. A second fermentation on the grapes that had produced the original red wine, will produce a lighter coloured wine classed as rosé.
Not all wine is red. There are also types of white wine and rose wine. But, red wine is red because of the reddish color of the grapes it is made out of.
red wine obtains its color from the type of grapes selected to produce it.
You can make white wine out of red grapes but you can't make red wine out of white grapes
Not only white grapes. Remember, you can make white wine from red grapes, but not red wine from white grapes.
Wine is often red because it is often made from red grapes, and the coloring of the grapes appears in the wine.
Any white wine can be made from red grapes.
Zinfandel is a variety of red grapes grown mostly in California used for wine making. Zinfandel wines can be red or blush. They have a fruity flavor.
The juice of both red and white grapes is rather clear. Red wine is made by letting the juice remain for a period of time with the crushed red grape skins, thus imparting red color to the juice. So red wine can be made from red grapes, but white wine can be made from either red or white grapes. The red grapes that are put into it.
No, but white wine can be made from red grapes if the extracted juice is not kept in contact with the red skins.
The color of the grape determines the color of the wine - thusly red grapes produce dark red grape juice which, when fermented, retains the red color. Green grapes produce a clear juice which remains relatively clear through the fermentation process. Blush wines are commonly a mixture of both types of grapes. There are wines which are made using other fruits - and those wines retain the color of their fruit juices as well. Blueberry wine, for example, stays dark blue.
White wine is made from "white" grapes, red wine from "red" grapes. As you have noticed, so-called white grapes aren't exactly white. They vary from green to grayish. while "red" grapes can be from red, to almost black. Blush wines, or rosé, are made by removing the grapes skins shortly into the fermentation process. The grapes are crushed, as in normal wine-making, but then the skins are filtered out after a couple of days. Much of a wine's color comes from the skins of the grapes.
