These sensors are for the ABS and do not control the speedometer. The vehicle speed sensor is somewhere on the transmition or transfer case. Exactly where I am also trying to find out.

we are trying to find regular factory wheels that fit the lug pattern off of a 1997 Chevy blazer s-10 2 wheel drive
If it is 4 wheel drive the front speed sensors are mounted into the front hub/bearing assemblies behind the brake rotor. If it is 2 wheel drive the front speed sensors are mounted to the spindle behind the rotor. In any case, just follow the speed sensor wire harness and it will lead you to the sensor.
as long as they have the same engine, drive train, and ecu? sure
It does not matter what gear it is in.
you dont, if you want to disconnect it then remove your front drive shaft.
