There is not speedometer cable on a 1996 Honda Civic. There is a throttle cable. Top replace this unhook it from the throttle body and gas pedal. Hook on the new cable to snake it through the firewall. Properly hook the throttle cable to the gas pedal and throttle body.
pull it out?
you replace it
Yes it does. It reaches from the gas pedal to the throttle body on your intake.
Two cables are on the throttle body. One is the throttle. Without it the car is going nowhere so it assume it is attached. The second is the detent or kick-down cable which causes the transmission to downshift one gear upon hard acceleration. Ido not know if this vehicle actually has one. Call the local dealership parts dept. and ask about the detent cable as if you were buying one and that will tell you if the vehicle has one. Y-THINK-Y
that sounds pretty normal to me
I had a stuck throttle on my 1996 Passport. The throttle cable had a piece of protective black rubber around the throttle cable between the outer cable covering and where the cable connects to the throttle body. The rubber had began to come apart and some of it was getting inside the throttle cable covering, causing the throttle cable to bind. I removed the rubber piece and cleaned out the cable by covering it with GOOF-OFF and then sliding the cable in and out until my cleaning rag was clean when I wiped off the cable. I did not replace the rubber piece and have had no problems since.
The throttle position sensor can be found on the throttle body, opposite end of the throttle cable end of throttle plate shaft.
It can come with either one. But the standard is an automatic transmission.
On my 1996 Geo Tracker automatic transmission 4wd it's located (in the engine compartment) on the passenger directly behind the intake (to the driver side of the battery) I hope that helps
In almost every case of this occurrence, this is your tracker telling you it needs a transmission overhaul.
Take it to a mechanic ASAP. This is very dangerous. a cause of is the throttle cable fraying replace the throttle cable.
