There is a mine producing zirconium at Phalaborwa (pronounced Palabora) in northern South Africa. Other things are mined there mainly, but zirconium and zirconium oxide were found as by=products of mining operations.

∙ 12y agogeographically it is found mainly in Australia, Brazil,India,south Africa,united states,Russia. 80% found in Australia and s.Africa......... it is not found as native metal...........the major commercial source is from zirconium silicate mineral and zircon.................it is also found as byproduct during titanium and tin minning.
