Should be in the middle of the engine at the back near the firewall (which is near the windshield) on the right side of the engine - it is a metal loop/handle dipstick.
there is no transmission dip stick on a 2001 pontiac, chevy, olds, buick front wheel drive with a 2.4, the only way to add fluid is through a fill hole located on top of the tranny, straight down from the front edge of the power brake booster, but there is no way to know how much is in it, you have to drop the pan and empty it out, put the pan back on, then add 7 quarts, then it is at the right level, other than this there is no other way, alot of the newer trannys come without dip sticks, the one against the firewall is your oil dip stick, hope this helps harry

How do you check the level of transmission fluid in a 2000 Pontiac sunfire?

as far as i know you cant check the transmission fluid on a 2000
Pontiac sunfire. It uses dexcool automatic transmission fluid and
very rarley needs to be changed, i have a manual shift and it never
has to be changed. Actually the only way that you can change it is
by having it flushed the same way you flush a radiator, it has to
be sucked out by a machine.

Where In 1997 sunfire chev is the transmission fluid plug?

If this question is for a 1997 PONTIAC Sunfire, the trans. fluid
plug (filler) is located on the drivers side of the engine. This
red cap is under the water hose and brake fluid reservoir on the
drivers side. It takes a little hunting. There is no plug, it's a
"Sealed Transmission." You have to take the pan off to get the
fluid out. It's a very messy job, but its the only way.
