Right around 1990, lots of auto manufacturers came up with a nasty little trick with the fuel pump- sticking it in the gas tank. I junked an otherwise keepable 1991 Chevy S-10 pickup for just that reason. If that's where Honda also put it, count on draining and dismounting the fuel tank to access the fuel pump. Most people just pull the gas tank and replace it with a new one mounted with a new fuel pump, rather than try to fix or replace just the pump.(Getting a fuel-proof seal when replacing just the pump can be tricky). Evil people, car designers. I believe the fuel pump is in the fuel tank, and it also tied to your fuel guage sending unit and there is a filter sock on the pick up tube. You will have to remove to fuel tank to replace that all-in-one unit OK... the fuel pump is indeed in the tank. HOWEVER... Unlike Domestic manufacturers, Honda has put some access panels in that allow you to do the job without dropping the tank! They are between the trunk and the back seat. Careful investigation will find two metal access panels that are simply glued to to the body with black windshield adhesive. Pry open the covers to reveal both the sending unit access as well as the fuel pump/pickup access. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which is which, but my instinct is that the one with the fuel lines going to it will be the one for your pump. Good luck! *This is correct from my experience.open the trunk, pull back the fabric, remove the cardboard deck, and you will see the two sealed panels. I believe the fuel pump is under the one on the left side
