under the intake manifold, passenger side of the block, pretty close to the transmission. it has a single wire coming out of it.
Are you refering to the Temperature Gauge Sending Unit. If so; The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
The temperature sending unit for this truck is located in the cylinder head on the right hand side at the very back (right behind the exhaust outlet for #6 cylinder)...... you out ...........
If you cant find your 2000 F150 4.2 V6 Temp. gauge sensor on the intake manifold, try looking underneath the engine. Back of driver side cyl. head that's where I found mine sensor was broken off. Jumper this connection turn key to on position, if gauge goes replace sensor.

There is a coolant temperature sensor and a temperature gauge sensor. the coolant sensor is located on driver side of the cylinder head. screws right into it, and the temperature gauge sensor is on the front side of the cylinder head right under the distributor. hope this helps
The 4.3 temp sending unit for the gauge is located in the drivers side head between spark plugs 3 & 5.
Could be, low on coolant (a leak in the system), a stuck closed thermostat, a faulty temp gauge sending unit, a bad head gasket or cracked head (worst case scenario).
The Ford 300 cu in straight six has one welsh plug in the back of the head and two in the back of the block, one of which is for the camshaft.
The oil sending unit on a 92 ranger 2.3 engine is on the drivers side of the motor. It is on the back of the head.
