The 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck signal hazard flasher unit can be found beneath the drivers side dashboard. The signal hazard flasher unit will be above the brake pedal.
Front seating area, behind steering column cover, on left hand side of steering column. I bought a replacement flasher at pepboys(part # EP27) It din't work in my ranger. So I bought another at the Ford dealer and this works. The flasher looks like a relay( http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=TRD&mfrpartnumber=EP27 ).the OEM flasher usually is blue.
The turn signal/hazard flasher is located under the instrument panel to the right of the steering column. Remove the flashe by pulling straight out. - Haynes Manual #36071, 1993-2005 Ford Ranger Pick-ups.
If it's like the 1994 Explorer the turn signal and hazard flasher " cans " are in the fuse panel
TheIndicator Flasher is a blue plastic box about 1" x 1" x 2" located under the instrument panel, almost directly above the diagnostic connector that is next to the hood release. It has 5 wires connected to it. Both my turn indicators and hazard flashers quit yesterday, and the factory manual described the circuits well but didn't give a clue to the flasher location. Turned out that my problem was apparently a bad connection at the multifunction (hazard/turn)switch.
I have a '98 model. The flasher unit on it is located under the steering column. You'll have to remove the hood release bracket then the plastic panel. There's another metal panel behind this. Remove that too. The flasher unit on mine is bright yellow with six wires. There are torx head screws securing the plastic panel as I recall.
Under the dash to the left of the steering column.
If it is the same as a 1993 Ford Explorer it is in the interior fuse panel
replace hazzard flasher Key needs to be in the ignition and ignition in on position ours does the same thing for our 1997 ranger xlt woman figured it out!
The 1989 Ford Ranger pickup truck ignition module is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The ignition module will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
From Haynes Repair Manual for Ford Ranger Pickups 1993 - 2005: " (1)Disconnect the negative cable from the battery; (2)The flasher relay for 1993 and 1994 models is located on the interior fuse panel; on 1995 and later models it's under the instrument panel to the right of the steering column. Remove the flasher by pulling it out. (3) Install the new flasher unit. Press flasher firmly into place". Good luck.
The multi function switch should be INSIDE the steering column cover ( the turn signal lever and hazard flasher button stick out of the cover )
