Four countries have had revolutions so far:

Tunisia - President Ben Ali was ousted in January. His Prime Minister set up an interim cabinet and then resigned. Elections to a Constituent Assembly were held last month to draft a new constitution. The result was that the Ennahda Party, a moderate Islamist party, won a 40% plurality of the seats.

Egypt - President Mubarak was ousted in February and handed over power to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. The transition period has been tense and seen further protests against the military rule. Parliamentary elections are now scheduled for late November - it appears that the frontrunner will be the one that's backed by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Libya - Civil war broke out in February after protestors took over the city of Benghazi. The rebels took control of the eastern part of the country but were soon beaten back by Gaddhafi's forces. The UN Security Council then authorised the implementation of a no-fly zone on Libya and NATO then began air strikes to assist the rebels. Gaddhafi's forces were beaten back with the turning point being the battle of the city of Misrata. In August, the rebels arrived in the capital of Tripoli, effectively collapsing the government. Pro-government forces held out for a few more months in the town of Sirte but were eventually defeated in October. Gaddhafi was lynched by a mob.

Syria - Civil War broke out in March after successive repression of protests by the Assad Government. Fighting between the Assad Regime and fragmented Opposition groups continues to the present with a death toll exceeding 100,000 casualties.
