The Civil Rights movement was a very successful era during the Vietnam War. It was especially influential in discovering significant historical figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Malcom X, etc. Forms of protests consisted of sit-ins, bus boycotts, and marches that lasted for days at a time. Specifically, in Little Rock, Arkansas (thus the name, the Little Rock Nine), Nine educated black students attended a white school nearby their neighborhoods, guarded by a few coast guard officials, to ease their way into segregated schools.

The consequences of the American civil rights movement were immense. The primary result was the "real" end of discrimination against Afro-Americans. This had results that were never addressed properly at the end of the US Civil War:
A. Freedom to vote without "created obstacles" to negate this;
B. Access to jobs and education that also hurdled " obstacles" ;
C. The recognition by most people that all races & ethnic groups deserved respect; and
D. A higher degree of self pride that the movement restored. Based on close ties with Afro-Americans, this writer can vouch for this personally.
Race cannot be used as a reason for not hiring someone.
