Mazda did. in Japan. unlike the 626, which is made in the usa, the millenia was built in japan. the difference is quality is huge. we had a 96 626. one of the worst cars we have ever owned. built like a Buick. rattles, squeaks, pieces fall off, running problems. the millenia is the complete opposite. fit and finish is superb. excellent power, brakes, quiet, smooth. everything a Buick wants to be.
