The Gulf War in Kuwait and Iraq was fought from August, 1990 to February, 1991, during the one-term Presidency of George Herbert Walker Bush (41st US President and father of the 43rd US President, George W. Bush).
Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq and Mr. George H. W. Bush (Father of George W. Bush) was the President of the United States of America.
It is important to note that Operation Desert Storm (the UN military advance into Iraq) did not start until 1991. The War, however, began with Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait in August of 1990. Operation Desert SHIELD also commenced in 1990. Operation Desert Shield was the build up of military forces in the Southwest Asian region (Saudi Arabia, etc.) To be used in the event Iraq refused to withdraw it's forces from Kuwait.
President George H. Bush ordered Operation Desert Storm to eject Iraq from Kuwait in Jan/Feb of 1991. The US was backed by a large number of democratic nations thatopposed the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
George Herbert Walker Bush was the US President during Operation Desert Storm. He is the father of another later President, George Walker Bush.
