Zachary Taylor may have a better name recognition because of his Presidency, but both Winfield Scott and Stephen Kearny are better known among Military Historians then "Old Rough and Ready" was. That is not intended as a "put-down" of Taylor at all, his service was commendable, but Kearny draws acclaim as the Father of the Cavalry and as an inovator and for leading from the front and Scott was the "Grand Old Man" of the US Army.
