I have a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, V-6 with 204,000 miles. It ran fine when I bought it but because of the mileage, I decided to do-it-yourself tune up. I bought a set of wires, a set of plus (Denso) and a PVC valve and did the tune up myself. I'm not a mechanic but I have done it before.
I drove the truck up to Northern Michigan for a deer Archery hunting trip and it ran fine til I when drove back. As soon as I hit 50 mph, the truck jerks continuously til it hits about 60 mph then it ran fine again. Also, if and when I stopped at an intersection or a stop sign, as soon as I hit the gas pedal, the engine hesitate before it picks up speed.
I consulted with two of my auto mechanic friends and they both agreed that it must be either the wires or the plugs or both. They suggested that I need to first, switch back with the old wires and see how it runs. If it doesn't help then I need to switch back with the old plugs and see if it works.
I didn't have much time so I just went to a Toyota dealer and bought everything new from them. Did the whole thing again and now it runs better than it was before. I hope this help.
It may be in need of a tune up.
Could be in need of a tune up.
Could be just in need of a tune up.
Sounds like it is in need of a complete tune up.
Take it back to the shop and complain.
Time for a tune up.
Not knowing exactly what they did my best educated guess would be that the idle is too high.
Trans problem
You can perform a basic car tune up for your car by firstly, going to your local mechanical works store or hardware store and purchasing a car tune up kit and following the instructions.
No, a car warranty will not cover a tune up. A tune up is considered a minor fixing of a normally occuring problem with the car. A warranty is used to cover major problems with the car, problems that were caused by the manufacturer.
