Answer 1

Modern Egyptians are pretty much a mixture of all the different people who have ever lived in (as citizens or slaves) or conquered the land of Egypt. This includes Romans, Greeks, Macedonians, Arabs, Hebrews, Hyksos, Canaanites, Hittites, Turks, Mongols, Nubians, Africans, Tuaregs, Numidians, Libyans and of course the original Egyptian natives. Today, they have adopted some of the ways and language of the Arabs so they're considered to be Arabs or part of the Arab world.

Demographic tests show the Egyptians are descended from this variety of people but they have lost their original language and cultural identity due to successive invasions by the Greeks, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines & Arabs. Each of the invading civilisations had a part to play in the eventual change of the Egyptian language and identity.

In modern times the Egyptians are mostly Sunni Muslims. When the Arabs (under Amr Ibn Al-As) invaded Egypt the locals did not resist as the already occupying Byzantines were not well liked by them. In time, the majority of Egyptians became Muslim while a minority remained Christian (their descendants are the people of the coptic church).

Prior to this the Egyptians were pagans with many gods such as Osiris, Ra, Amon, Horus, Isis, Bast, Ptah, Sekhmet, Anubis, Sobek, Set and so on. Under the rule of the Pharoah Amen Hotep IV (Akhenaton), the Egyptians observed a form of monotheism, venerating Aten, the god of Amen Hotep IV. However soon after his death the Egyptians reverted to paganism.

Answer 2

They are called Arabs because basically their native language today is Arabic, They are not ethnically Arabs.

Answer 3

In biblical times,Islam didnt exist,Egyptians were still pagan and their langauge was Ancient Egyptian.

However during Christian times Egyptians were known as Copts and spoke Coptic (a langauge that evolved form ancient Egyptian) the Coptic lnaguage is still used in the Coptic Orthodox church (Copt menas Egyptian).

During Islam,Arabs those ethinically from Saudia Arabiaand the Arabian Gulf invaded Egypt and christians were forced to convert to Islam, changing the Coptic Egyptian Language to Arabic.

They are perhaps portrayed in the media as Arab Muslims probably do you to the newsreporters limited understanding of the Arab invasion that happened in the Middle East.Well Egyptians dut today speak Arabic and are mostly Muslim,so its easier to call the Arab Muslims.

Egyptians are not Arabs, they are middle eastern,an Arab is a person from saudia ARABIA or the ARABAIN gulf, for e.g a Chinese is an Asian but according to your logic a Chinese is Japanese and their native langauge is Japanese

Answer 4Egyptians do not look like Arabs, they do not follow middle eastern traditions but they are Indeed Muslim (they follow Muslim traditions).

Egypt is mainly confused with being black or Arab because it is in Africa, next to the middle east, but NO, Egyptians are different from both races. In southern Egypt there are blacks from Africa and in western and Eastern Egypt (desert) there are illegal north africans and Arabs living in the desert (Government doesn't want to take action).

And if you look at a map of Egypt at night you would see there is heavy lights around the nile river, where the Egyptian citizens live. There is no civilizaiton in that desert area.

Answer 5Egyptians are not considered fully Arab or middle eastern, although there are some tribes that consider themselves Arab, most egyptians are Muslim-not Arab. In the media, they foolishly think that Muslim must mean Arab, but no: Islam is a religion not a race just like common logic that judiasm is a religon, so not all Jewish people are Jews and not all Jews are Jewish (in the Jewish holy book the Torah, Jewish is a religion based for the Jews and it states there are other paths to god). So not all Muslims are Arab, and not all Arabs are Muslim. Therefore Egyptians are Egyptians, with European and some Arab decent who converted to Islam.

In conclusion NO, Egyptians are not truly Arab and YES most are Muslim.

Answer 6

The Egyptians were black and identified them selves as black Africans. The name Egypt is the Greek name for Kimet witch means "The land of black" (The 'black' was actually in reference to the richness of the soil on the Nile delta) even they had known in all there wisdom that ignorance and hatred and confusion would try to deem these African people and country everything else but what they are BLACK! if you did not notice Egypt is in Africa (Geographical location doesn't necessarily mean anything in reference to race)

Why did vasco da gama kill the Muslims?

Vasco da Gama is not known for having committed any massacres of Muslims. Admittedly, politics was rough in the 16th century, so he may have skirmished with Muslims at some point, but it is unlikely and he certainly did not massacre them.

Monotheism is the belief in one god (Jews, Christians, Muslims). Polytheism is the belief in many gods(ancient Greece). Egypt also had a polytheistic religion.

What was the Egyptians culture and beliefs?

The Egyptians believed in many 'mythological' or 'supernatural' beings, or as we call them, Gods. There is a god for just about everything imaginable and for this, a book from the library is great. Egyptian gods were unique in that many were half animal, half human. They believed in an afterlife and that their soul had to be light when they died or they would have been eaten and not allowed to live a peaceful afterlife. The mummification of a Pharaoh's body was another thing the Egyptians kept in practice. Most of the major organs were removed from the body and put into jars before going into a different chamber. The brain was removed by a small hook that went up the nasal cavity and removed chunks piece by piece. Isn't that delicious?
