There are several versions of the tale. One is that he gave the money back to the poor people who he felt had been unjustly taxed or robbed of the money.

Another version has Robin Hood using the money to finance his militia in the woods, buying food, blankets and weapons.

Another version has all of the stolen money going to finance the ransom for the rightful King, who was being held in Europe.

Why is Robin Hood called Robin Hood?

Question is not clear. Do you mean "Why was Robin Hood considered an invented story rather than a historical fact?" or "Why did Robin Hood achieve status as a legend rather than other outlaws?" I deal with the latter question both in my Midwest Folklore article "Jesse James as Robin Hood" and the "Afterward" to my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles. The appeal of Robin Hood is that he was a scamp who could make you laugh while he was robbing you.-- Sam Sackett

Why would Pancho Villa be described as Robin Hood?

Villa was a hero only to the Mexican pesantry, who at the time had been under the lengthy dictatorship of Porforio Diaz for decades. Villa was certainly no hero when he led his gang of thugs across the border and murdered several innocent people in Columbus, New Mexico. rdg

Ask people for money, they're usually outside of stores with a sign that says homeless or that they lost their job or they need money. Some really nice people do give them money and with that money they buy there supplies or what they need.

Who lived with Robin Hood?

In the myth-like series of stories that have been told about the famous robber-hero, Robin Hood, quite a few interesting characters have been described as joining and living with him in the English woods. Friar Tuck, Little John, Maid Marian, and Alan-a-Dale, among many others, have all been part of Hood's band of 'merry' co-adventurers. In general, the legend has it that he attracted those who wanted to live simply, free from the oppressions of the government, and for the sake of taking from the corrupt rich in order to give to the poor.

Who robbed the rich to give the poor?

The people were hard pressed by taxes by the rich.So Robin Hood robbed the rich to give to the poor. When the American bank robber Willy Sutton was asked, "Willy, why did you rob all those banks?" he replied, "That's where the money was." In my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles Robin tells his men that they will rob only from the wealthy, because they're the ones with money, and leave poor people alone, because they don't have any money.

How did robin hood steel from the rich and give to the poor?

The idea of Robin Hood "stealing from the rich to give to the poor" is folklore. There is no solid historical evidence that he even lived, or at least one person known to all as "Robin Hood". Early tales of him vary greatly with later stories, and if he did exist, "he" was likely several different people at different times.

Robin Hood is not actually considered a thief because he 'steals from the rich, to give to the poor' and (supposedly) does not personally profit from the crime.
