during World War 1 the Russians had a war. it was between the comunist Russians and the Russians. regular Russians were white communiost were red. the communists one.then Russia began to take over smaller countries around it such as the ucrane and Mongolia. they were all together and it became the ussr
During WW I, Russia was an ally of France and Britain (forming what was known as the Triple Entente, meaning the triple understanding) and WW I was a very destructive, horrible war, with enormous casualties. Many people in Russia felt that their country had gone war to defend France from Germany, and they wished to leave France to her fate, rather than spill so much Russian blood. Vladimir Illych Lenin was able to make use of the anti-war sentiment and he organized a revolution against the existing Kerensky regime in 1917. He then pulled Russia out of WW I, and established a government based on his own interpretation of the communist theories of Karl Marx, which became known as Marxist-Leninism. This resulted in the USSR, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
As to how Russia became the Soviet Union, it did not actually "become the Soviet Union." Immediately after the Russian Revolution, the Russian empire was renamed the Russian Socialist Federated Socialist Republic" (RSFSR). In December, 1922, the RSFSR entered into the Treaty of the Soviet Union with the republics of Ukraine, Belorussia and the Trancaucasus Federation (Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). This union of four separate republics is what became known as the Soviet Union.
Firstly, Russia did not become the USSR. the USSR of Union of the Soviet Socialist Republic, was a union of countries, just like the United States of America, each different state has a name, its just the name of the Union of 15 countries that were called USSR, most of the Soviet Union's countries were called, example Azerbaijan SSR or Ukrainian SSR (i know it does USSR too) but like the United States each of the like 52 states (I'm not American so pardon me if I'm wrong) are actually independent countries that have merged their Economy, military and borders to be more Powerful, just like the USSR because the more corrupt the system is, the more effective it is because it has more control over it's population, if you want a good example, it's like today's European Union. But the USA, Just like The USSR in 1991, will Collapse, most probably in 2025 due to 75 trillion dollars of depts and years and years of military overspendings, just like the ussr
"Russia" did not simply change into the "Soviet Union." After the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks changed the name of Russia to the "Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic." The new Russia then joined with the Ukraine, Belorussia and the Transcaucasus Federation and together they became the Soviet Union.
The USSR did not break up and become Russia again. Thinking Russia and the USSR were the same, is a common mistake. Russia was just part of the USSR, along with many other countries. Russia was the largest of the countries that were part of the USSR. In 1991, the USSR broke up and these countries, including Russia, all became independent.

There is no longer a USSR, the 'USSR' was an acronym for:Union of SovietSocialist RepublicsThe USSRdissolved as all the republics broke off after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In essence there is no longer a/the USSR, thus it has no job in post-communist Russia.
The USSR no longer exist; however when it did, the largest republic was Russia. At the time of the formation of of the USSR in 1923-1924, Russia was known as the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic.
