it wasn't so much the Germans as a collective as it was Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, they believed in the Areyan race, which was a made up name for all a Germans, they believe that all human beings were not as good as the Germans that they should all day, Hitler was merely getting started with the Jews because we were "easy pickings" that why there were so many gypsies, homosexuals and mentally challanged people killed in the Holocaust, it wasn't really the Jews that they hated (although we were pretty up there...)

Germans did hate Jews when Adolf Hitler was in charge, this wasn't anything personal to MANY Jews but it was also because Hitler disliked Jews from childhood. German citizens were misled by Hilter and the Nazis as they were told that Jews were responsible for the loss of World War 1 and that all Jews had an evil soul.

Most Germans believed this and they showed their hatred for the Jews no the night of broken glass. This was the night that Hitler allowed all Germans to steal from Jews , abuse Jews (verbally and physically) , smash their homes and businesses, and in some cases even kill Jews. But by this time alot of Jews already moved cities and even countries as they knew that Hilter would show his hatred, as he was a very powerful leader.

the Germans hated the Jewish because they were rich and successful so the Germans grew jealous and started to hate them Hitler pretty much had a pathalogical hatred of jewish people and when he became a politicion, he used them as someone to fall back on and blame ofr Germany's woes. Jews also haeld a lot of banks and since germany was in such dire straitrs becase of the treaty at Versais, people connected the two. Propoganda didn't help, but remember- not EVERY german hated the Jews. because the jewish were really smart. they were good at math, so germans were afraid they would monopolize the place. So HITler destroyed them.

The Nazi leadership consisted of ardent devotees of conspiracy theories that claimed that the Jews had caused Germany's defeat in World War 1 and had caused the Great Depression. Many Germans found this kind of thing hard to believe. ___ Most German Jews were well assimilated. (Germany was the birthplace of the Reform Movement in Judaism). They were loyal, law-abiding Germans, and a disproportionately high number of Jews fell on the frontline in World War 1. Except in Bavaria, where some Jews had been prominent in the revolutions of 1918-1919, the idea that ordinary Germans were seething with hatred against the Jews is inaccurate. The rowdy beerhalls of Bavaria were not typical of Germany, and antisemitism was not the big vote-winner that Hitler thought. He was often urged by close adverisers to tone it down as they thought it was actually losing the Nazis votes. Many German Jews worked in the professions, for example as teachers and doctors. On the whole, those people who came into regular contact with Jews and actually knew them, were not anti-Jewish. Antisemitism tended to be strongest among hardline nationalists and people who fell for antisemitic conspiracy theories. Obviously, once the Nazis were in power they subjected the German population to a barrage of antisemitic Propaganda, with mixed success. There was little enthusiasm among ordinary Germans for the Nazis' anti-Jewish policies. That is one reason why the regime kept the Holocaust secret. Please also see the related questions below.

The straight answer is that it wasn't the Germans as such, it was those Germans that were Nazis. Nazi ideology is extremely anti-semitic.

The Nazi party held a strong belief in racial superiority. Namely, the Aryan race was the supreme race, and the Jewish people were so inferior they were to be considered sub-human.
