Prior to the suspension of inspection for horse slaughter plants in the US in 2007, horses were killed by first stunning the animal so that it was rendered insensible to pain immediately after the stunning then was bled out through severing the jugular veins and carotid arteries in the neck. This is still the method used in Canada and the regulated slaughter houses in Mexico.

Japan: Same as china. (Japanese belive the more an animal is tortured the better it tastes)
US: Shot in the head and while fully contious hung by their back legs ,get their throat cut, and left to bleed to death.
