Check first the steering servo fluid level and top up as necessary. The most likely cause is the wheel-side cv joint. Check the gaiter for damage. Either way, it will need replacing.

The white steering wheel (orange in some models) indicate that there could be a problem with the power steering unit which is battery driven. If your main car battery is ok get the unit checked out. If you do find you have lost power steering do not immediately go to the garage, give the front bumper a kick (obviously not full force) this can clean the bushes in the motor (dust builds up inside and can cause a failure) The light itself can be reset via a computer diagnostic so check out an independant garage as a Skoda dealer would probably cost you a new motor (expensive) plus labour!
