Check first the steering servo fluid level and top up as necessary. The most likely cause is the wheel-side cv joint. Check the gaiter for damage. Either way, it will need replacing.

The white steering wheel (orange in some models) indicate that there could be a problem with the power steering unit which is battery driven. If your main car battery is ok get the unit checked out. If you do find you have lost power steering do not immediately go to the garage, give the front bumper a kick (obviously not full force) this can clean the bushes in the motor (dust builds up inside and can cause a failure) The light itself can be reset via a computer diagnostic so check out an independant garage as a Skoda dealer would probably cost you a new motor (expensive) plus labour! Hope that has been of some use.
Power steering pump failing.
Trun your steering wheel to full lock left and right and hold it in full lock (One side at a time) for about 10 seconds if it is the steering pump that is whicning the whine sound will change when in full lock.
Likely either the motor or the rack&pinion is shot.
Check power steering fluid first, then take it to the shop if it is full.

I think it is in Milton Keynes, you can contact them via the Skoda website and they do reply as i found out,but be warned from My experience they don't live up to there slogan of looking after Happy motorists and will reply just to keep you, so they think happy, they are full of Bull S**t
Check the transmission fluid level, be sure it is at the full line. A worn out universal joint could be the source of the clunking noise when the transmission is shifting.
If it's got power steering it's the servo pump that bogs down the engine when the steering is pushing against the stops.
