Why do your 95 explorer stalls when taking off and sometimes cut off at a red light?

stalling explorer at lights and stopsOn my 1994 explorer it Back fired once and a little black rubber cap poped off my PVC control unit, it is on the right side of the engine compartment looking from the front with the hood up, you didnt't say if its running rough? if so, look close, you will see it, its silver looking, with two hose's coming off it, and a black rubber cap on the front and back! if you feel the front and the back you will feel the air "it don't get hot" and you have to do it while its running so you can listen for the vacume leak? if its missing it will be sucking air real bad, you can hear it! you need to put a new cap on it, this thing is above the manifold toward the back on the right about 5"-6" above it and about 4" from the fire wall,,good luck. let me know if it helps.
