This is a murder mystery - Right? This is totally no comprendo. You are missing some or all of the clues and of the critical elements. 1 Is the starter running and nothing happening? Send more info please.

Spark, fuel, and air...all that is required for an engine to run. It either isn't getting spark, isn't getting fuel, or isn't getting air. It can be a little more complex (timing could be off significantly causing an engine not to start). What exactly do you mean by, "...sounds like it wants to start but doesn't turn over." If it is not turning over, that would suggest the starter may not be engaging the flywheel...possibly a bad starter solenoid. If the engine is cranking, but not starting...then check spark, fuel, and air intake.

Check the charge on the battery, it may be faulty even though its not old. If the battery is charged then the starter motor may be old, brushes wear out over time.
